3 Signs Your Phoenix Pool Deck Needs Resurfacing

Arizona pool decks work harder than almost any other surface on your property. Between relentless summer UV, chlorine splash-out, and the occasional monsoon downpour, it's normal for a deck to show some wear over the years. But there's a difference between cosmetic aging and a surface that's telling you it needs attention. Here are three signs it's time to consider resurfacing.

1. The finish is flaking, peeling, or chalky

A chalky residue on your hands after touching the deck, or visible peeling at the edges, means the existing coating has broken down from UV exposure. This is purely cosmetic at first, but it accelerates once moisture gets underneath the failing finish.

2. Stains won't come out no matter how much you scrub

Rust rings from patio furniture, algae staining near the waterline, and general discoloration build up in the pores of an aging concrete surface. Resurfacing gives you a fresh, uniform finish rather than another round of scrubbing that only helps for a few weeks.

3. It's been more than 10-15 years since the last resurfacing

Even a well-maintained cool deck or pool deck coating has a service life. If you're not sure how old your current surface is, that's usually a sign it's original to the pool and due for an update.
